Curtiss La Q Day

Curtis La Q Day was born in Paxton, but attended Drummer Township High School in Gibson City. His first flight in 1911 was in a glider he built while a sophomore at DTHS, taking off from an embankment of the Illinois Central Railroad north of Gibson City. The flight was a dud, but that did not dull his spirit for flying. He become one of the nation’s early aviation pioneers, who was well known for putting on flying exhibitions around the country.

Liam Killian will portray Curtis LaQ Day, the early aviation pioneer. Liam is a student at GCMS High School and a veteran of ACT Theatre Company and GCMS High School productions. He is working to become an Eagle Scout with Boy Scout Troop 29 of Gibson City. He also enjoys video editing and chess, along with fishing and camping.
